The Del Mar College X-Ray Students give CBSRT members a discounted rate at both of the CBSRT Mini Seminars which are usually held in March and November of each year. All proceeds benefit the Del Mar College X-Ray students. 3. In November for the celebration of National Radiology Week, the "Society", in addition to a speaker, will usually have food and drinks to honor another year of our profession. 4. By being a CBSRT member, the need for continuing education, as required, is fulfilled. 5. By volunteering as an officer, that person will receive free membership dues for the year he/she has volunteered their time. *Are you an interesting speaker? Have a good subject for the seminar you would like to talk about? If you would like to be a speaker at one of our meetings just call us and/or email us. The "Society" will pay you for your time. Currently we pay $100 for 50 minutes of your time. The more hours you talk, the more you get paid. |
CBSRT A continuing education society for the purpose of maintaining mandatory continuing education as required by the State of Texas Health Department and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
The Education Committee consists of those CBSRT members that wish to help in providing the speakers for the monthly continuing education meetings. The Vice-President of the "Society" oversees this commitee. Once a speaker has agreed to speak at the monthly meeting, then his/her topic along with his/her qualifications are sent to TSRT for approval. The speaker then speaks at the monthly meeting. The "Society" gives the speaker a gift certificate of $100.00 towards the restaurant of their choice or a donation towards their favorite charity as appreciation for their time and knowledge. If the speaker wants, we can just give them a check for the amount above. Currently very few members help with this task, something to be improved upon in the future.

SEMINAR COMMITTEE
The seminar committee is a group of about 8-10 members. They are responsible for putting on the eight hour continuing education seminar. The committee obtains the speakers and has them approved by the ASRT.. They get the donations for the goodybags as well as door prizes. The members start working on the Mini-Semianrs as early as 3 months prior to the event. Activities involved include making certificates to give the attendees; If any transportation or hotel reservations are needed for any of the speakers, the "Society" provides it. What ever audio/video equipment is needed by the speakers is also provided. The very last and most important thing is the amount of attendees. The number must be known prior to the event so that we can assure that there is a lunch for each of the attendees. Pre-registration is a must. All this must be done to assure a successful seminar. Not to mention the aftermath of work to be done once the seminar is completed. It requires hard work and dedication.
